I don’t know what I was thinking before I had kids.
Well actually, I do know and I was STUPID.
I thought that I would be able to control my offspring. I thought that if I was deeply in tune with them and met their needs that they would do as I say ask.
I thought I would be the type of mother who could stop dangerous or disrespectful behaviour with a kind, calm conversation.
I thought that I would be able to make help you to sleep.
I didn’t think that I would be the type of mother who would yell, drag by the arm, and threaten with putting them in the car when out for dinner.
I didn’t think that from birth they would have minds and personalities of their own.
I didn’t think that they would do the direct opposite of what is asked, be so independent, have so much energy, be so bold, so angry, so contrary, so charming, so clever, so frustrating.
I had no idea how challenging parenthood would be.
